My work investigates the playful and painful exchange between the history of culturally-developed stereotypes and representations of the black image in popular culture. I attempt to identify how our present and future are shaped by the opposition of the events and stories we choose to accept and those we choose to deny. To do this, I blend surface with depth, past with present and real with the imaginary.
